Executive Summary

August widened Blount's ranking base considerably. The site finished the month in the top 3 for 40 search queries (up 3), on the first page for 228 (up 50), and inside the top 20 for 329 (up 69). That is the biggest single month of page one expansion the account has had. Click volume went the other way, though, falling from 63 to 46 even as impressions rose to 6,040. Both things are true at once: more of the site is visible on page one than ever, and fewer people clicked through in August than in July. The concentration is worth noting, because the top 3 positions produced 83 percent of all clicks and the first page produced 98 percent, on 2,765 impressions. The newly won page one placements are the pool that has to be pushed upward next, since that is where the click volume lives.

On the traditional search side, the numbers moved the same direction. The site now shows up in Google for 446 different search queries, up from 397 last month, and the page one share of that pool grew faster than the pool itself: 228 of those queries now land on the first page against 178 in July, with 40 in the top 3 against 37. Total monthly Google impressions rose to 6,040 and overall search visibility climbed again, from 9.9 percent to 11.0 percent.

The headline ranking story is the head terms finally breaking through. "Concrete contractors" (74,000 searches per month) is now on page 1 at position 7, "concrete companies" (14,800 per month) sits at position 2, "concrete services" (4,400 per month) at position 5, and "concrete company near me" (6,600 per month) at position 10. The concrete delivery cluster is the strongest page on the site, with five separate delivery terms holding position 1 and "concrete delivery" (5,400 per month) at position 2. The excavation cluster continues to hold position 1 across the board.

A note on how these numbers are counted

We pull from several sources so no single tool tells the whole story. The headline counts above come from Google's own reporting, which covers every search Blount appeared for. The city-by-city and map pack numbers further down come from a daily rank tracker checking each market separately on desktop and mobile. AI citations come from the platforms themselves. Each number comes from whichever source measures it best, and stays with that source month to month.

AI Search Visibility

AI search visibility

Blount's first ever AI citations landed this month, on both tracking lenses at once.

Last cycle both trackers read zero. This cycle Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode each cited a Blount page, and Bing reported 12 verified citations inside the Microsoft ecosystem. Two independent systems crossing from zero to real numbers in the same month is not a sampling fluke. It is the point where the content depth and schema work we have been building on the site starts being treated as a source AI answer engines will quote.

Three measurement lenses on AI visibility
Cross-platform AI snapshotA snapshot sampling citations across seven AI answer engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Copilot, Gemini, and Grok. This tracker samples a subset of prompts, so the number it reports is a floor, not a ceiling.
2
First citations ever recorded on the cross-platform tracker, up from 0 last cycle. One in Google AI Overviews, one in Google AI Mode, each pulling a Blount page as a source.
Bing 30-day rollingVerified citations reported directly by Bing for the Microsoft ecosystem, covering Bing search and Copilot. This is a 30 day rolling window and it counts confirmed citations rather than sampling, so every one of these is a real instance of a Blount page being used as a source.
12
Verified citations in the Microsoft ecosystem over the rolling 30 day window, up from 0 last cycle. The first confirmed pickups on record.
Google AI feature impressionsThe number of times Google's own AI features served a Blount page inside an AI generated answer during the reporting window. This is Google's first-party count, reported directly rather than sampled.
674
Impressions inside Google's AI answer features over the 28 day window, holding steady against 709 last period. Homepage 220, concrete delivery page 115.

What this sets up

Depth is what earns citations, and depth is what we have been adding.

The pages AI is pulling are the two we have invested the most in: the homepage, which we rewrote the metadata and schema for, and the concrete delivery page, which is also the strongest ranking page on the site. That is the pattern. Substantive, specific, well-structured pages get quoted. The guides we published through the summer on stamped and decorative concrete, driveway planning, patios, summer curing, cold weather pouring, and road salt protection are all built to feed the same flywheel, and we continue to monitor 10 conversational concrete and excavation prompts across Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT to see where the next pickups land.

08

What We Did This Period

Content and page work published on your behalf

We wrote and staged two new seasonal articles in August: a cold weather concrete guide covering pouring and curing late in the Western New York season, and a road salt protection guide aimed squarely at the "concrete maintenance" cluster that is now holding position 5. Both follow the structure that has been working: a real decision framework, local freeze-thaw context, and a question and answer section marked up so search engines and AI answer engines can read it cleanly.

We also completed a rewrite batch on two service pages, decorative concrete and driveways, working section by section into the existing page structure so nothing broke visually. The driveway page is the one to watch: driveway searches are now stacking up on pages 2 and 3, which is exactly the position the delivery and excavation pages were in before they broke through.

Underneath that, the metadata and structured data work we deployed earlier in the year is still compounding. Every page now serves a unique, written description rather than a shared one, and the site carries business, service, question and answer, and breadcrumb markup. That markup is a meaningful part of why AI engines can now identify and quote Blount's pages.

09

Next Month Focus

Two things happened at once in August, and they are connected. The biggest generic concrete terms in the market moved onto page 1, and AI answer engines started citing the site for the first time. Both come from the same source: pages with real depth on them. The next phase is widening that from the two pages carrying the load today to the full service set, and converting the page 2 block that now contains more than 68,000 monthly searches.

  • 01

Convert the page 2 block into page 1 wins

"Concrete companies near me" at position 11 and "excavation companies near me" at position 12 are the two largest single opportunities on the site by a wide margin. We are sharpening internal linking, on-page copy, and supporting content aimed at both, along with "concrete services near me," "foundation contractors near me," and the sidewalk contractor terms.

  • 02

Build driveway and patio depth to match delivery

The delivery page proves the model: enough depth on one topic and Google hands you the whole cluster. Driveways and patios are core services with searches already building on pages 2 and 3. We are adding the supporting content and internal linking to push that cluster the same way, which should also open up more AI citation surface.
