Every ranking band grew in August, and grew substantially. Clean Sweep ranked in the top 3 for 315 queries, up 73 from July, on the first page for 630 queries, up 141, and inside the top 20 for 919 queries, up 159, counted across every search the site appeared for. Traffic followed: clicks rose to 122 from 86 against 90,799 impressions, up from 80,062. The growth landed where it pays. The top 3 produced 56 percent of every click and the first page produced 75 percent, on 10,641 impressions. That is a month where the site added depth and the depth converted.
The narrower working list tells the same story from closer range. Across the priority commercial terms we check by hand every day in the Indianapolis core and each tracked suburb, on desktop and mobile, 87 terms hold a top 3 position (up from 77), 144 hold the first page (up from 122), and 177 sit inside the top 20 (up from 151). That is a deliberately small, hand-picked set rather than a restatement of the site-wide counts above, and every band on it grew too. Five of the nine keywords sitting in last month's striking distance table graduated onto page 1, including "masonry repair" at 4,400 monthly searches, which moved from #14 to #9 and is the cluster the owner asked us to lean into. Site-wide visibility held near 40% while the keyword count underneath it expanded, which is the healthy version of a flat visibility number.
The local 3-pack stayed strong across the metro: 86 top-three finishes in the Google map pack across the 11 tracked Indianapolis locations, with "chimney cleaning," "chimney inspection," and "chimney services" all holding the #1 map pack spot in the city core. On AI search, the Microsoft ecosystem was the breakout: Copilot and Bing Chat citations went from 34 to 132 in the trailing 30 days, a 288% increase. ChatGPT more than tripled its citation rate on the Indianapolis prompts we track daily. Next month we finish the on-page items queued for the masonry and fireplace pages and keep feeding the cost-guide content model that produced the Vented vs Ventless result.
We pull from several sources so no single tool tells the whole story. The headline counts above come from Google's own reporting, which covers every search Clean Sweep appeared for. The city-by-city and map pack numbers further down come from a daily rank tracker checking each market separately on desktop and mobile. AI citations come from the platforms themselves. Each number comes from whichever source measures it best, and stays with that source month to month.
Google's own reporting recorded 90,799 search impressions and 122 clicks across 1,000 distinct queries in this window. Sixty of those queries drew 100 or more impressions apiece, and the biggest single impression driver was "chimney repair" at 7,104 impressions, which tells us the demand is there and the work now is converting that exposure into first-page positions.
Queries where Clean Sweep currently appears on the first page of Google in the Indianapolis primary tracking location. These are the search terms actively bringing buyers to the site. The head terms that drive the phone (chimney sweep, chimney cleaning, chimney repair) all sit at #3 or better, and the fireplace and masonry clusters have now joined them on page 1.

Queries already ranking on page 2 where a small content or link push moves them onto page 1. These are the next wave of winsStriking distance keywords are search terms ranking close to page 1 (positions 11 to 20). They typically take less work to push onto page 1 than starting a brand new keyword from scratch.. This list is short for a good reason: most of last month's page 2 set moved up rather than sideways.
"masonry repair" (4,400 monthly searches) climbed from #14 to #9, "indianapolis fireplace repair" from #11 to #8, "brick repair near me" from #12 to #8, "masonry repair indianapolis in" from #15 to #9, and "chimney sweep carmel" from #12 to #10. The masonry cluster the owner asked us to prioritize is now a page 1 business line rather than a recovery project. The three keywords still sitting on page 2 either held or improved their position and are the natural targets for the next on-page pass.

We measure AI visibility through four independent lenses so that no single vendor's crawler is telling the whole story. The cross-platform snapshot taken August 31 shows 15 citations, up from 12: Google AI Mode leads with 9 across 4 different pages, Google AI Overviews holds 3 across 2 pages, and ChatGPT contributes 3. Microsoft's own reporting, on a rolling 30-day window, shows 132 citations across Microsoft Copilot and Bing Chat, up from 34. And Google's own first-party report shows 3,450 impressions inside AI Overviews and AI Mode, up from 2,370. Every lens moved in the same direction this period.
Google AI Mode is Google's conversational search experience, and it is where Clean Sweep earns the most AI citations of any single platform. Critically, those citations are spread across four separate pages rather than concentrated on one, which means the AI is treating the site as a broad authority on chimney topics rather than a one-page reference.
A month ago ChatGPT linked to Clean Sweep on roughly 1 in 7 of the Indianapolis prompts we monitor. It now does so on half of them, and on the latest daily check it cited the site on 7 of 10, including "Best chimney sweep in Indianapolis IN," "Top rated chimney sweep Carmel IN," "Chimney cap replacement Indianapolis," "Chimney inspection Indianapolis," and all three of the cost questions we track. Cost questions are the pattern that keeps working. Crown repair, masonry repair, and chimney leak repair are the next cost guides we want to build, because those are the three service lines where AI assistants are answering Indianapolis homeowners today without Clean Sweep in the answer.
Google's own Generative AI features reportA beta Google report that shows how often your pages appear inside AI-generated answers on Google (AI Overviews and AI Mode). Unlike traditional impressions, these show up when Google's AI synthesizes an answer using your content as a source. is Google's own direct measurement of how often Clean Sweep pages surface inside AI Overviews and AI Mode. Every other AI view in this section relies on third-party crawlers. This one comes straight from Google, and it is the number we trust most.
| Clean Sweep page | AI impressions | Share of total |
|---|---|---|
| /vented-vs-ventless-gas-logs-indianapolis/ | 1,849 | 53.6% |
| Homepage | 354 | 10.3% |
| All other Clean Sweep pages combined | 1,247 | 36.1% |
Last period that page held 47% of the total. This period it holds 54%, and in absolute terms it added 734 impressions on its own, which is roughly two thirds of the site's entire AI growth for the period. One article we wrote in January is out-performing the rest of the website combined inside Google's AI answers, and it is still climbing eight months after publication. That is the compounding return the content program is built to produce, and it is confirmed by two independent data sources: the cross-platform snapshot shows the same URL anchoring Google AI Overview citations, and Google's own first-party report shows it driving the impressions. The strategic conclusion is simple. Build the same depth on the masonry, leak, and crown topics the owner wants to grow, and expect the same curve.
Note on the data: Google's Generative AI features report currently surfaces impression data only, not clicks. This is because AI-generated answers often satisfy the query in place without the user needing to visit the source. Treat these numbers as authority and exposure indicators rather than direct-traffic drivers.
The recovery phase is finished. Every ranking band grew, the masonry and fireplace clusters are back on page 1, and all four AI measurement lenses moved up together. Next month's work shifts from repairing what the migration disturbed to compounding what is already working.
Push the masonry repair cost table plus the FAQ block onto the masonry service page, add the service-and-repair H2 with a repair hub link on the fireplace installations page, and add the homepage internal link into the chimney repair hub. These three pages are all sitting between #6 and #9 on terms worth thousands of monthly searches, and these are the smallest changes that move them into the top 3. We will also resolve the masonry URL overlap we found this month, where an Indianapolis masonry query is resolving to the Zionsville page instead of the main masonry repairs page.
The Vented vs Ventless result is now proven twice over, and the pattern behind it is clear: a thorough, question-shaped cost and comparison guide on a topic Indianapolis homeowners actually ask about. We will apply that model to crown repair, masonry repair, and chimney leak repair, which are the three service lines where AI assistants are currently answering local homeowners without Clean Sweep in the answer, and which are also the lines the owner asked us to grow.
