September is the strongest of the last three months on every ranking count. Backed by Lou Curley, Pennsylvania's first CSIA Master Chimney Sweep and an NFI Master Hearth Professional, and a team credentialed through CSIA and F.I.R.E., the site ranked in the top 3 for 667 queries, up 102 from August, on the first page for 1,265 queries, up 205, and inside the top 20 for 1,761 queries, up 139, counted across every search the site appeared for. The first-page move is the one that matters most. July and August both finished at 1,060 first-page queries, so September's 1,265 is a 19 percent gain and a genuine step up, not a rebound from a soft month.
Traffic moved with it. Clicks rose to 454 from 326, a gain of 39 percent. From this report forward, clicks and impressions are Google's totals for the whole site, which include searches Google does not itemise. They are not like for like with the figures quoted last month. On the whole-site basis August was 326 clicks and 75,312 impressions. Among the searches Google itemises individually, a subset of that whole-site total, the top 3 positions carried 68 percent of the clicks. Impressions came in at 61,562 against 75,312 in August, which is the one item we are watching this month and is covered just below the headline metrics. The core service terms carry the load: "chimney cleaning" averages position 1 on 568 impressions, "chimney repair" averages position 2 on 601 impressions, "chimney leak repair" averages position 2, and "lou curley's chimney service" holds position 1 and produced 49 clicks on its own. In the local 3-pack, our daily rank tracker recorded 117 top-3 map pack placements on September 30 across Drexel Hill, Havertown, Media, and Wayne, counted separately on desktop and mobile. That tracked set was rebuilt on September 15, so it is a starting position rather than a trend.
AI search continues to run on a wide base. Counted the way last month's headline counted it, the answer platform snapshot plus Microsoft's own count, the site was cited 1,198 times in September: 61 in the snapshot and 1,137 in Microsoft's reporting. From this report forward we total Microsoft's figures by calendar month, so they are not like for like with the rolling window quoted last month. On the calendar basis August was 1,452 from Microsoft and 1,520 combined, so September is lower than August on that count, and the footprint behind it is still large and anchored by a question the site owns in Microsoft's AI: how often dryer vents should be cleaned. Google's own reporting shows 8,940 impressions inside Google's generative AI features. We now total these by calendar month too, so they are not like for like with the 28 day window quoted last month; on the calendar basis August was 7,400, which makes September a 21 percent gain. The seasoned wood guide leads with 2,051 of those impressions, 23 percent, with five more pages behind it. On the conversational prompts we monitor, ChatGPT returned a Lou Curley's page as a linked source 100 percent of the time.
Impressions came in at 61,562 against 75,312 in August, a drop of 18 percent, and below July's 73,985 as well. Rankings moved the other way at every depth, with top 3 up 102, first page up 205, and top 20 up 139, and clicks rose from 326 to 454, so this is not positions being lost. The same dip showed up in September across unrelated sites we track, concentrated in positions beyond page one. We are reviewing the daily data before drawing a conclusion. Next month we will check whether impressions settle at this level or recover, and whether clicks keep rising alongside. If clicks start to follow impressions down, that changes the picture and we will say so.
The headline ranking counts above come from Google's own reporting, which covers every search Lou Curley's appeared for. The city-by-city and map pack numbers further down come from our daily rank tracker, which checks a set list of priority terms in each market on desktop and mobile. AI figures come from the platforms themselves, including Microsoft's and Google's own reporting. Each number stays with the source that measures it best, month to month.

These specific pages are the foundation for everything ranking. Each one drives traffic across many related search terms. Where a count of ranking queriesA "ranking query" is a unique search term that this specific page shows up for on Google during the reporting month. One page often ranks for many related searches at once. is shown, it is how many different Google searches that page appeared for in September.
Real local 3-packWhen someone searches for a local service like "chimney sweep near me," Google shows a special box at the top with a map and three business listings. This is called the local 3-pack or "map pack" and ranking inside it is a major driver of calls. placements checked across the tracked Delaware County and Main Line markets. 117 top-3 map pack placements on the September 30 snapshot, counted separately on desktop and mobile in each city.

The tracked keyword set was rebuilt on September 15 and now checks the same 33 priority terms in all four markets on desktop and mobile. That gives 16 days of readings and no August baseline, so these figures are a starting position, and next month's report will show the first like for like movement. Last month's 69 was counted on the earlier setup and is not comparable. Havertown and Drexel Hill are the strongest markets, and Wayne, at 5 and 6 of 33, has the most room to grow. In the Drexel Hill core, "chimney sweep," "chimney cleaning," "chimney inspection," "chimney repair," and "fireplace repair" all hold map pack position 1 on desktop.
This tracked view is not the headline Top 3 count, which covers every query Google showed the site for. On the 33 tracked terms, organic top three finishes on September 30 totalled 20 across the eight city and device checks, and 16 of those are brand terms. A keyword can hold a map pack spot and an organic spot at the same time, so the two counts are never added together. The split is the clearest read on where the next organic work belongs: the non-brand service terms, where the map pack is already strong and the organic listing has room to follow.
Lou Curley's holds a deep AI search footprint across every window we can measure. Counted the way the headline tile counts it, the site was cited 1,198 times in September: 61 across the answer platform snapshot, where Perplexity is the largest single surface at 29, and 1,137 in Microsoft's own reporting, anchored by the dryer vent frequency question the site owns there. Google's own reporting shows 8,940 impressions inside Google's generative AI features, up 21 percent on August's 7,400. And on the conversational prompts we monitor, ChatGPT returned a Lou Curley's page as a linked source on every single one.
A snapshot of how Lou Curley's is cited across the tracked AI answer platforms. This is the cross-platform view, and it counts distinct citations rather than impressions.
The snapshot total came in at 61 against 68 in August. Perplexity rose from 27 to 29 and Copilot from 3 to 4, while AI Overviews gave back 6 and Gemini and AI Mode gave back 2 each. The snapshot samples answers across the platforms and is the narrowest of the four windows, so it is best read as one input alongside the two larger counts the platforms report themselves: Google's generative AI impressions, up 21 percent, and Microsoft's 1,137 citations for the month.
We monitor conversational chimney questions across Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT, set to the Delaware County service area. These tell us whether real buyer questions return a Lou Curley's page, and whether the AI links to it or only names the business.
On ChatGPT, both measures are at 100 percent, unchanged from last month: every tracked prompt names Lou Curley's and every one links to a page on the site. On Google AI Overviews the business is named on 60 percent of prompts and linked on 20 percent, down from 60 percent last month. That link rate is the one measure in this view that moved the wrong way, and it defines the work. Google's AI still names the business on most of these questions, so the job is to give it a specific page worth linking, which is what deeper cost and evaluation content is for: chimney repair cost, chimney relining cost, and what a homeowner should look for when hiring.
Google's own reporting breaks out impressions served specifically inside Google's generative AI features. This is Google's own count of how often a Lou Curley's page appeared inside an AI-generated answer, and it is the most direct measure of Google AI visibility available.
| Page | Generative AI impressions | Role |
|---|---|---|
| loucurley.com/how-to-tell-if-wood-is-properly-seasoned/ | 2,051 | Deep how-to guide, the top AI page on the site |
| loucurley.com/pros-cons-3-different-types-chimney-liners/ | 689 | Liner cluster anchor |
| loucurley.com | 452 | Branded and broad service entry point |

The seasoned wood guide leads at 2,051 impressions, 23 percent of the month's 8,940. The five pages behind it, the liner types guide, the homepage, and the roofer, chimney types, and shared chimney articles, add 2,333 more between them. No single page is carrying the Google AI footprint on its own, which is the more durable shape: if Google changes how it treats any one topic, the rest of the library absorbs it.
Microsoft's own reporting shows how often its AI search chose Lou Curley's as a source. Unlike the answer platform snapshot, this window covers only the Microsoft AI ecosystem, and it breaks the count down to the exact questions being asked.
Microsoft's reporting names the questions that pull the site into its answers. The lead one is "how often should dryer vents be cleaned," credited with 414 citations at a 31.4 percent citation share, and six further variants of the same question sit behind it. That footprint traces back to the dryer vent cleaning frequency pillar we published on your behalf, supported by the Dryer Vent Fire Risk post and the Dryer Vent Cleaning service page rewrite we also delivered. The site is credentialed to answer these questions too: Lou Curley is a C-DET Certified Dryer Exhaust Technician in addition to being Pennsylvania's first CSIA Master Chimney Sweep.
Google's own generative AI reporting is up 21 percent, led by the seasoned wood guide. ChatGPT links to a Lou Curley's page on every conversational prompt we track. Microsoft's reporting shows 1,137 citations for the month, lower than August's 1,452 and still anchored by a question family the site owns. And the answer platform snapshot, the narrowest of the four, stands at 61 against 68. Two windows are up or at their ceiling and two are lower than August, with the site present in all four. The depth of the content library is being picked up independently by each major answer engine, which is a durable position for a local service business to hold in AI search.
September moved every ranking measure forward at once: top 3 up 102, first page up 205 to 1,265 after two flat months at 1,060, top 20 up 139, and clicks up 39 percent. Google's generative AI impressions rose 21 percent, and Microsoft's AI cited the site 1,137 times in the month. The plan for next month continues the work that produced those results and aims it at the two clearest openings in the data: a dense page 2 list led by the inspection terms, and the gap between Google AI naming the business and linking to it.
Refining titles, content depth, and internal linking across the service pages and guides already driving traffic, with attention to the highest-volume striking-distance items: "chimney inspection" (position 14, 301 impressions), "fireplace inspection" (position 14, 222 impressions), "chimney flue repair" (position 13, 208 impressions), and "chimney relining options" (position 12, 163 impressions). The inspection pair is the single biggest page 2 opportunity on the list, and the relining cluster sits right behind it.
Publishing new pillar guides and supporting articles that expand the topics already ranking, with emphasis on the cost and evaluation questions where Google's AI answers name the business 60 percent of the time but link only 20 percent of the time: chimney repair cost, chimney relining cost, and what to look for when hiring a chimney company. The same approach is what turned the dryer vent frequency question into a 414-citation position inside Microsoft's AI.
